The Indian wedding will be on Friday, June 26th. The attire is Indian clothing (lehengas/saris for women & kurtas for men), however you can wear dressy western attire if that makes you more comfortable. Note to women: If you've never worn a sari before, make sure the pleating on the skirt comes pre-stitched or consider wearing a lehenga instead as that is easier to put together. This is a festive occasion, so colorful outfits are welcome & make sure you can dance in it (the bride is wearing the traditional red, so please avoid this color 😊)!

The ceremony will take place under a canopy-like structure called a mandap. A Hindu priest will officiate the ceremony and numerous relatives will perform specific roles under his guidance. The bride and groom will be seated in front of the priest for most of the ceremony. The priest will recite verses in Sanskrit, but will also provide English explanations of the rituals.
On Friday, the Hindu wedding ceremony will be indoors, however, the baraat (groom's procession) will start outdoors. On Saturday, the Christian wedding ceremony will be indoors.
On Friday, there will be Indian vegetarian food. The basis for a vegetarian diet is a religious belief that treats all living things with respect. On Saturday, there will be a mix of vegetarian and meat options. All food will be served in a buffet style, so guests may choose what they’d like to eat. If you cannot have any dishes that contain allergens like nuts, please let us know!
