When Amber and Travis met through mutual friends in high school, it wasn’t exactly love at first sight. Travis, a shy, skinny, John Deere hat, wearin’ farm boy wasn’t exactly Amber’s type having grown up in the beaches with all her “boys” (her cousins). As time went on, and they spent more time together with these mutual friends, the flirting began and attraction grew! Travis found himself staying up late on work nights to see her, and even taking his “pavement princess“ (his truck that was said to never leave the road!) off roading, coating “her“ in mud just to impress! To Amber‘s surprise, she realized she had quite a crush on this skinny little farm kid, and it was obvious he had a crush on her too. Since 2013 this “crush“ has grown into something much deeper that has drawn them back to each other time and again. Since then for her, it’s always been him, and for him, it’s always been her!

The on again off again romance has been on & going strong now for over seven years, and of course, the constant question to Amber and Travis has always the same.. “when?” For Amber, she was just patiently waiting as she already made up her mind some time ago that Travis is the one who will always have her heart. But for Travis, he just needed a little time as he holds marriage to a high standard and wanted to make sure he was absolutely getting everything just right. Maybe saying a “little” time is a bit of an understatement, but nonetheless since time (years…) had passed, a proposal wasn’t on Amber’s radar. So, Anyone who knows Amber, knows all too well that when the “V“ word (V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N) comes up, she’s already got a suitcase packed! With Travis, it’s a bit of a different story as he’s more of a homebody. The opportunity came up for a trip, a full week to Puerto Rico with Amber‘s cousin. Amber jumped at the opportunity, and Travis of course caved as he always does because as he likes to say, he’ll do it because “you know I love you, right?” So off they flew to an island adventure they would surely never forget! Little did Amber know, Travis had an adventure of his own planned! He had already decided it was finally the right time to marry her, and Puerto Rico presented the perfect opportunity! So, he made some last minute stops before their getaway. One to the jewelry store and the next was to ask Amber‘s parents. At the start of the trip, things didn’t quite fall into place, the weather wasn’t cooperating and many plans had to be rescheduled or cancelled. But, she was on vacation & Valentine’s Day was just a few days away, so Amber was still excited and might of even had a glimmer of hope thinking “wait… what if…?“ Well, Valentine’s Day came and went very anti-climatically, so that glimmer of “what if” faded away. Besides, the last time she had a “glimmer“, she was genuinely & still pleasantly surprised, but it was with a little chocolate lab puppy & not the ring she had thought! It’s now February 15th and as it seemed Travis may of forgotten about the love holiday, Amber gave him a little of the “Silipini guilt trip,” but as they had a day planned to visit the Gozalandia Waterfalls, they both turned to excitement for their day! At the falls, Amber wanted a picture at the top like she had seen some others doing, so off they tracked! They posed for their photo, and Travis decided “let’s jump in“ instead of the hiking back down. Amber being not so graceful, hesitated. But, Travis stuck out his hand and she grabbed on and in they jumped! Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties we’ll say (aka Rick’s user error)… No photo was captured. Travis had the idea, “well, let’s go again then!“ Amber quickly said “hard pass, too cold!“ But Travis gave puppy dog eyes and pleaded “come on… Pleassssee?” Amber gave in with an eye roll, and even annoyingly mocked his “pleaseeeeee” as she walked by her cousin with a smirk to take the hike back up. At the top, the water falling all around them, they posed for a few photos (that Amanda successfully captured) & then Travis asked to switch sides for a different angle, which was a strange request. But, after the second pose, she turned back towards him, & he was bending to get down on one knee (Amber still being oblivious, looked down at his shoes thinking he was making an adjustment). He pulled from his pocket the most perfect ring and with tear filled eyes asked Amber to “ Make me the happiest man, & be my wife?” Of course, with shock Amber’s response was “ ohhh myy God! “YES”! Now the greatest future is yet to be written!
