Our Venue is on top of the beautiful Lookout Mountain above the downtown of Golden Colorado. Originally built in 1917, this mansion was built by Charles Boettcher to be intended as a hunting lodge and summer home. Boettcher, a Prussian, was an industry leader in Colorado from the 1870s until his death in 1948, having had interests in mining, sugar, and hardware retail. The home hosted family and friends and dignitaries, including the Queen of Romania in 1926. Boettcher Mansion was handed down through the family until 1972 when Boettcher’s granddaughter, Charline Humphries Breedan, donated the mansion to Jefferson County. The home has been described as a marriage between English Tudor and American ‘Arts and Crafts’ architecture, both considerably popular amongst the Denver elite in the early 20th century. Boettcher kept the home “Coloradan” as the entirety of the original structure was built with native stone and timber from the surrounding area rather than with imported materials. While the home has been renovated and extended over the last 109 years, Amber and Zack will be at the altar in front of the original entrance to the Mansion, which is now the back porch!
