Amber and I met shortly after I graduated the police academy in late December 2015, early January 2016. Amber was working at the local ER. I had come into the ER to transport an individual. There was some kind of instant connection between the two of us but strictly a friendship was in the making. Over the years our friendship continued on a limited basis. However, during my later tenure on 3rd shift patrol, Amber had moved onto travel nursing. We kept in regular touch, specifically while she was assigned in Guam. While the world dealt with Covid, Amber wanted a break from her two years on Guam’s small island, additionally since Asia was still closed for traveling. Amber decided to return stateside. As we continued talking, Amber said that she was going to be passing through Tennessee on the 24 of July, 2021. She had returned to Florida after Guam. Amber took a flight to Illinois after finding a specific vehicle she’d always been wanting. That road trip from Illinois passing through Tennessee for dinner would be history in the making! I asked Amber if she’d like to meet up for dinner to catch up. On the 24 of July 2021 at 5:30pm, we along with several friends met at a local marina. The evening couldn’t have been more perfect. That dinner date did not end until 3:00am with us talking at the marina about everything that had occurred in our lives to much needed laughter! Our beginning, Sunrise to Sunset had begun and we just didn’t know it in that moment. Days after while I was out riding my motorcycle, God did whisper Amber’s name to me. I found a spot to park and take in the scenic views and to deal with the number of emotions that I had just experienced. It was overwhelming as God’s voice was heard. I do not think for one second this moment was a coincidence, but while on my return motorcycle ride back, not only did Keith Urban’s song “God Whispered Your Name” came on next on my playlist but it played it again on the local radio station after losing my Bluetooth signal. Amber and I have been together every day since July 24, 2021, except for just a few times she’s had to travel. July 24, 2025, we celebrated our 4th anniversary! On April 14, 2025, I asked my best friend, my soulmate, to marry me! In December 2024 we visited with family at a cabin in Georgia. I asked Amber’s dad for permission to marry her since my plan was to surprise Amber on my very first cruise to the Caribbean. Either she was going to say yes or throw me overboard…. Amber said YES!!
