Question

💡 Know Before You Go: Puerto Vallarta 101

Answer

💵 Currency & Tipping Pesos: Many places accept USD but the exchange rate offered by shops is often poor. You'll get the most value by paying in Mexican Pesos (MXN). ATMs: For the best rates, use an ATM at a local bank rather than a generic machine on the street. 🚕Getting Around Uber: Uber is widely available, safe, and usually cheaper than taxis. Airport Transport: Uber cannot pick you up directly at the airport terminal curb. You must walk across the pedestrian bridge over the highway to the "Uber pickup" spot. If you have a lot of luggage, we recommend taking a licensed Airport Taxi (fixed rates, pay at the kiosk inside) for a smoother arrival. Taxis: Taxis don't have meters; they use "zones." Always confirm the price with the driver before you get in. 💧 Misc. The Water: Do not drink the tap water. Stick to bottled water or the filtered water provided by your hotel. Ice is Safe: In tourist areas and reputable restaurants, ice is made from purified water, so your margaritas are safe! Sun Protection: The tropical sun is stronger than you think. Bring reef friendly sunscreen if you plan on snorkeling to help protect the local reefs.
