A winter night in a cramped Brooklyn apartment, surrounded by college classmates and some of our best friends. We talked all night, walked down the streets with fresh snow crunching beneath our feet. We happened to be going in the same direction. You joked about how my shirt looked like it belonged to a pirate, and I joked about how we should build a fort. We continued talking, every day, while nearly failing our midterms. Sometimes a change in routine is good, to see the brighter side to life. We laughed a lot and haven't stopped since. "I'll stop doing it when you stop laughing"
It was an unseasonably warm weekend in October in Beacon NY. The area was bustling with tourists and hikers looking to get their last fill of peak fall. Don't underestimate a trailhead that is considered "intermediate" because you will be scrambling uphill over rocks the entire way. Sending a text to your best friends who were planning on surprising us afterwards that "this hike is a lot harder than I thought."
