The Girl In The Gold Dress

The day we met......... February 6th, 2009, until

I used to believe love at first sight only existed in movies. All of that changed on the night I saw ‘The Girl In The Gold Dress’. In the middle of chaos, I saw peace and instantly knew I met my everything, my Queen of Zamunda. My brother’s and I were chilling like the villains we were at the time; it was my nephew’s 20th birthday, My homie, and I were promoting a party in Charlotte at Club Ice. He met someone that caught his attention. We had business to handle, so I started walking in his direction. As I’m walking, my Scorpio senses picked up on a different type of energy. That energy was vibrant enough to quiet the room. The closer I got, the brighter that area grew. I know, I thought it was the drinks too! I'm about signal my homie, I look to my right, and lost my breath. Wow, I thought to myself! This woman is like no woman I’ve ever seen before. I mean every toe was sexier than the other, her legs would make an atheist believe in a higher power, her eyes were like the fourth of July, and her smile could make an Ox start writing R&B songs. The way her curves filled out that gold dress, oh my God, I felt like a little boy with his first crush. I had to say something, I had to get her attention, I had to know who this goddess was. And all I could say was “do you have a lighter?”. What’s wrong with me?! I never had problems talking to girls, but she was different. She was my queen of Zamunda. After all that, I didn’t even get her name, but I knew if she wanted me I was hers. Because I fell in love that night. A week or so went by, my homeboy and the lady that caught his attention on that night, whom happened to be mutual friends with Amber, were making plans to see each other. Of course, I had to find ‘The Girl In The Gold Dress’, so I asked my homie, “what’s up with her friend?”. He said, “she’s out of town, but ole girl has more friends". I responded, “I’m not going down there until she comes back!” See, my father didn’t raise no dummy. If I would’ve hooked up with one of the other friends, you definitely wouldn’t be reading this now! The following week rolled around, it was a Wednesday night, I was out being Ox, and my phone rang from a Minnesota number. Normally, I don’t answer unknown numbers but this night I picked up. “Hello, this is Amber, my girl is trying to hook us up on a blind date and I need to know who the hell I MAYBE double dating with?" Again, I was speechless, but this time I charmed her enough to find myself back in Charlotte. Of course, she agreed to go out with me. As I’m getting fresh for the evening, late as always, I hear a knock at the hotel door, a sassy, sexy voice yelled, “Hello, are you okay in there? What’s taking so long?!”. I rushed out of the shower, soap still in my ears, thinking I can’t let this one get away. I threw my clothes on. I was fly tho! Walked out the door and I felt what people describe as butterflies going crazy! As I continued walking down the hallway, there she was, ‘The Girl In The Gold Dress’. We greeted each other with a hug, I caught a rush smelling her perfume. We all left in the same car, but I only saw her. We went to some club, it was packed out, but I only saw her. Some dude must’ve seen what I saw when I looked at her because I felt like he was sitting too close. I’m Ox, and don’t play about shit! Lol. Nah, but for real…… I aggressively tapped his shoulder and told him to back up! He did it without any problem. She looked at me and smiled. I thought to myself “and she a rider?!” Tupac’s song came to my head, “All I Need In This Life Of Sin, Is Me And My Girlfriend". It may sound crazy, but I knew at that moment, that no matter where this road called life would take us, I would always be here for this woman. Life took us to different places, but somehow, we always came back to each other. This time I had help. I have the best stepdaughters in the world! I don’t like the word step, but I use it respectfully. Needless to say, I love ALL of my girls!

For all the days along the way
