Ever since I can remember, I have loathed John Moore. From age 3 to high school, I could not stand to be in the same room as him. His quiet but arrogant attitude repelled my loud, obnoxious, and know-it-all personality. I guess you could say we both matured a little bit in the summer between our Junior and Senior year of high school. CIT at the Wilds changed my perspective of life and of people. During my second week of CIT and during John's regular week of camp, we both noticed each other in a different light. God had definitely been working in his heart at camp as well. In the following weeks, we had both volunteered to go on a mission trip to Salt Lake City, Utah to minister to a Christian camp out in the mountains. We both had vigorous jobs that required much energy and not so much sleep. As he was out in the heat doing manual labor, I was in the hot kitchen preparing the campers' food. For some reason, unknown to this day, he decided to help me wash dishes after every meal. I think this is when I finally realized that he was actually a caring human being, and he realized that I wasn't as obnoxious and annoying as I used to be. Not many words came from washing the dishes until a couple days later when he found out my greatest fear. He decided to play a prank on me involving a snake. To him, he was most definitely flirting; to me, I hated him. Thankfully, God had mercy on John and gave him one more chance. John, Caleb, and I had to catch a flight back home a day early from the group, but little did we know our flight was going to get delayed for several hours. As we sat in the airport in the middle of the night, John began to talk. (Shocking, I know.) That night we were no longer enemies, but we became friends. After a couple of months of waiting, he finally asked me out and the rest is history.
