We met at Walmart. Dalton had just moved from the night shift. Amber saw him and thought he was cute. One day, Amber told Dalton to smile. She didn't leave until he smiled. After that, any time Amber caught sight of Dalton she would bug him until he gave her a smile. After the third time Amber did this, Dalton began to have feelings for her.
Amber had to ask Dalton for his phone number since he didn't have Facebook (which she later created one for him). They texted without pause for about a week before they decided to go on a date. Dalton picked Amber up, and they went out to O'Charley's. Amber ordered first; Dalton ended up ordering the exact same thing. After dinner, the two went to the movie theater and watched Power Rangers. Dalton gave Amber their first kiss when dropping her back off at Brescia University. Amber asked Dalton after midnight if he would be her boyfriend. He said yes!
We had been talking off and on about the future and how we both wanted each other in it. Dalton's mom had given him his grandmother's ring. One night coming home, Dalton stopped on the porch and got down on one knee and proposed. We kept it secret until Christmas because we wanted to surprise everyone at the same time.
We went to Paducah, KY to spend Easter with Amber's Granny and her mom's side of the family. After getting back, Amber wasn't feeling so good. We stopped at the store and went home. Turns out, we were expecting our first little one a little sooner than planned. We had our son, Thomas Scott Whitaker, on December 11, 2018.
Amber made it through her semester at school and was ready to relax before going into the hospital. We decided to get induced since Amber's doctor was busy on her due date, December 13. We went in at midnight. Amber was induced until about 1:30 AM. Amber received an epidural between 4 and 5 AM. Her doctor broke her water around 6 AM. Amber continued to sleep off and on throughout the entire process. Besides some minor contractions resulting in another dose of epidural, labor went incredibly smooth. Once it was time to push, it took less than an hour and the first of Amber and Dalton's children, Thomas, was born at 1:58 PM.
