About a week before his birthday Marcus asked me to plan a birthday dinner, just us. I knew he wanted to wear one of his new business suits, so the place had to be fancy too. We ate dinner on the 31st floor choosing seating from a 180 degree view including both Seattle & Bellevue skylines. They gave us a free dessert for his birthday too, so we were extra excited! Dinner was quiet except Marcus mentioned he really wanted to go on a walk later, which I object to. My shoes weren’t very comfortable so I said I didnt feel like it. Then Marcus was silent the entire dinner, making me feel uneasy for absolutely no reason (so I thought turns out he was proposing that night)! I laugh now but I really thought it was because we felt out of place! I felt like we were in a very expensive movie! So we pay, we leave & we walk back to the car when I realize I forgot the debit card at the restaurant. So we had to walk back uphill to the restaurant (my feet hurting) & Marcus still wants to go on this “walk”! We got the debit & made our way back to the car & he asked me if I’d like to go to Gas Works. This is my favorite park in Seattle btw, so off to Gas Works we went. When we got there I was mesmerized by the sight of Marcus in his suit against the Seattle skyline. He walked us into the grass when I said, “Wow babe very nice... But I forget how much duck sh*t there is out here. There’s just so much. Look.” There I was, complaining about my feet, walking through duck sh*t & not realizing Marcus was about to do this thing! He starts making me the most beautiful promises & after each compliment I thought either “omg is he doing what I think he’s doing?” Or “wait no, not on his birthday.” Well after talking for what felt like forever, he finally knelt down & popped out my ring! He was crying so then I started crying! It was magic! I never believed I’d plan my own proposal but if I ever had to do it again, I wouldn’t change a thing! ❤️
