While Brandan and Amber both taught agriculture at the schools they worked at, they met on a dating app. Because, where else can you find someone close to your age, with the same interests, and who actually understands what you do for a living and the busy schedule that comes with it?! Any who, after they both "swiped right" and matched with one another, Brandan reached out with a "Hey Amber!" message. They continued chatting online until Brandan offered to start texting instead. Their first date was a few weeks later. From the time of their first date to the time Amber moved in with Brandan in July, the two of them only spent a couple of weekends apart! The more time they spent together, the more they realized they balanced each other out pretty well. Brandan continues to encourage Amber to step out of her comfort zone while Amber reminds Brandan not to purchase bright red tennis shoes.
Leading up to our engagement, Amber had scheduled a local photographer to come out and take Christmas card pictures. Not at all thinking that Brandan would take advantage of the opportunity...the week prior to the big proposal, Brandan's school was virtual for 3 days which gave him plenty of time to plan the final details. Leading up to the day of, Brandan had told Amber SEVERAL white lies to ensure she had no idea of what was to come! He told her that their landlord would be working cows in the barn, and that we couldn't use the barn for a rain location...he wouldn't be able to go with her to the Christmas market on the day before as he had so much to do in preparation to return to virtual instruction...LIES!! But, if you know Amber, you know she isn't too fond of surprises and that this strategy was probably the most ideal. The day of the proposal, Amber and Brandan met with the photographer (Rebecca Jones Photography) and they drove around the property scouting out prime photo opts attempting to stay out of the 30 MPH wind gusts. They encircled the entire property until they finally ended up taking pictures where Brandan had set up Amber's ideal Christmas mini session spot. Once they were finished, Brandan told Amber that there was one more photo they needed to take. Amber didn't think much of it, until Brandan blindfolded her and led her into the barn (the same one they were supposedly working cattle in). After adding the milk cans Amber insisted on using for the Christmas backdrop, and putting everything in place, Brandan took the blindfold off of Amber and revealed a stall full of Christmas lights, pictures from their adventures, their FFA jackets, and a sign that read "I have THE diamond - Will you marry me?" All while he played "Diamond in my Pocket," by Cody Johnson! Brandan said a few words, got down on one knee and asked Amber to spend the rest of her life with him. Of course she said yes, or else we wouldn't be here today!
