We met for the first time at our Young Adult Bible Study group at Cross Creek Church in 2022. Although we only talked through mutual friends and pretty much only during Young Adult gatherings, we had a pretty instant (platonic haha) connection. We started talking more frequently later in the year. It felt so organic (and still does) to have one another as a friend, that we became best friends pretty quickly. We started hanging out more often, going to fun events together- we genuinely enjoyed each other's company! Of course, we were still just friends. At the end of October in that same year, we took a fun day trip to Austin, Texas. We had an incredible amount of fun and we took lots of pictures on his Sony camera (best in the game). We ended up driving back into town really late that night a lot closer than when we had left. HOWEVER, we were in complete denial at this point. As much as we wanted to repress feelings, both of us felt a deeper connection than just friends. rip. So, when Mari's sister, Cheralyn, heard about the Austin trip and started *unreasonably* drilling her about us being in denial and suggesting that we need to have a talk to be sure our feelings are sorted out, we started facing some realities. A couple nights later, we sat in Mari's former apartment until 4am talking, laughing, and slowly but surely opening up to one another until we finally confessed our feelings for one another. Davis suggested we pray and revisit the conversation. And when we decided to revisit it, He asked Mari on a date for the very first time. On November 5, 2022, we had our first date at P.F. Chang's and walked around in Sundance Square. That night, we became official! It was a sweet, sweet night. Since then, we have been on a couple of fun adventures, many church nights, laughed together and cried together, and began learning how to love unconditionally and deeply. God has shown us so much, and has approved of this relationship pretty clearly- so on August 11, 2024, Davis popped the question! Mari said yes, in case anyone was wondering. P.S. Davis said Mari ran first and then said yes.
