We met at Mr. Rooter Plumbing where we both worked. I was a dispatcher, he was a plumber. We quickly became friends and ended up dating for a few months. Lies and life caused us to break up. We both went on to live rather full lives living and working in Ventura/Oxnard. Marriages, raising children, good times, and heartbreaks. All of which shaped us to be the people we are.
We happened to run into each other at the Gungor, The Brilliance, Propaganda The End of The World Tour at Discovery Ventura. We met up for dinner to catch up about a week later, finally understanding what had happened to cause our break up 21 years earlier. We continued to spend time getting to know each other again. I am so glad that we did!
Mike set up a family dinner with my parents, the kids, and myself. I just thought it was another family meal and worked with him to prepare everything. Little did I know that he had invited my parents over that night so that he could ask my father for his blessing to marry me. We hadn't exchanged our Valentines Day gifts the day before and since my kids were there, I gave them their gifts. Mike had wanted us to exchange gifts as well and I kept telling him I wanted to wait until everyone had left and we were alone, but he insisted since I had given the kids theirs. When I pulled the paper out of the bag, the bag was empty. I thought I had dropped the present and that Mike was getting down to help me find it. That is when he said "You know I love you, right?" It took me a couple of seconds to realize what was happening, and when I did, I walked away lol. I did come right back, and in front of my children and parents, he pledged to love me for the rest of his life and asked me to be his wife. I said yes but realized in that moment, He said yes first. Yes to me, yes to my children, and yes to all that I am. I am so overjoyed to be marrying this man! We are so excited to share this next chapter in our lives with you. See you soon!
