For those of you traveling from further afield, here are some notes and recommendations to make planning your trip a little easier.

Flight

Missoula Montana Airport (MSO)

While you could fly into Spokane (GEG) or Bozeman (BZN) for potentially cheaper air fares, they both entail a roughly three-hour drive to reach Missoula over passes subject to weather impacts. We recommend flying directly to Missoula for ease and simmplicity.

Travel Note

Transportation

You will need a car or to coordinate with another guest who has a car to reach the venue. We highly recommend carpooling if you can, as the venue is a half-hour outside Missoula. To reach the venue pavilion, take state highway 200 from Bonner, east of Missoula, roughly 30 miles until you see the large hanging sign for Lubrecht Experimental Forest and a gate arch on the right. Turn in here and keep right for the large parking area.

Travel Note

Lodging

Though the venue is a half-hour outside of town, we highly recommend staying in Missoula, where most local lodging options and amenities are located. There is a wide offering of hotels and vacation rentals in the area, but if you're in search of a simple, inexpensive option within walking distance of downtown, we recommend checking out the Shady Spruce Hostel.

Travel Note

Weather

Fall in Montana can be quite variable weather-wise. Keep an eye on the forecast in the days before you leave and be ready for anything from warm and dry to cold and snowy, with an average high around 55 and lows around freezing. Bring layers for warmth and flexibility!
