We met through Jordan's sister Amy at IU in 2010, and bumped into each other a few times on campus. Jordan tagged onto Amy and Amanda's spring break plans in Boston to see friends. Over the course of the trip, we piqued each others interest. After, we found tons of reasons to be stubborn and not give dating a try: Jordan moved to Irvine, CA in 2011 and Amanda moved to Milwaukee, WI in 2012. We bumped into each other occasionally but after running into each other again at Jordan's brother Chris and Meghan's wedding in Chicago 2012 (Amanda was Amy's date, Jordan was best man), we started toying with the idea of dating LAX > MKE. And then we dated long distance for 5 years (across Irvine, Milwaukee and New Jersey). On some trips, we camped in places like Zion and Death Valley.. and on some trips, we binge watched Parks + Rec and made coma-inducing day-meals. Long distance was tough but FaceTime and frequent visits (+ flyer miles!) made it easier to manage - we got into a habit of sending cards with letters and hang-man games back and forth (we still do this!). Finally in 2017, Amanda + Jordan moved under one roof, in Lincoln Park Chicago.
We realized the longest we'd ever been in the same place before moving in together was TWO WEEKS (over a Christmas vacation or two). That's crazy to look back at now and realize the jump we were making moving in together, but it's been pretty easy hanging out with your best friend all the time. Jordan is currently a research scientist at Northwestern University. Amanda works in account management at a housewares manufacturer. We love our dog Taco and exploring Chicago's endless hidden gems. We couldn't be more excited to celebrate with our friends + family - everyone who supported us through too many Southwest flights to count! Cheers x
