Her perspective: Luke and I met through mutual friends our freshman year of college but didn't cross paths often until the following year when we shared a few classes together. It is my point of pride that on the first day of organic chemistry I asked him to sit next to me, unknowingly securing a future together and a passing grade in the class. Midway through the semester he asked me to go on a hike at the beach, where we sat in a hammock, talked for hours, and watched the sunset. After all of that I still insisted for weeks that it wasn't a date (not my point of pride)—when finally it clicked and I realized that he was exactly the person I wanted and needed. Throughout our six year relationship Luke has shown me more love, support, and patience than I ever knew possible. He’s taught me what it means to love selflessly and wholeheartedly and I am so excited to spend a lifetime loving him. His perspective: I was pretty shy when it came to girls, so Amanda inviting me to sit next to her on the first day of sophomore year was a big deal. It gave me the confidence I needed to ask her out despite an overwhelming feeling that she was far, far out of my league. The first few dates were surreal. Amanda's investment in our conversation and connection was unlike anything I had ever known -- she made me feel understood, valued, and capable to a degree that I had never experienced before, all while inspiring me with her adventurous and fun-loving spirit. Fast forward six years and she still makes me feel this way. She is my everyday inspiration and joy -- a natural remedy to the routine of everyday life. She continually challenges me to grow in all areas of my life and I am so grateful for that. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with her!
