We met at a birthday party and didn't think much of it. Luckily, he lived down the street and it wasn't a far walk. We had our first real conversation at a Christmas party a few weeks later. I hugged him goodbye but neither of us wanted to let go.. I gave him my number at his house a week or so later and he texted me that night. After that, the conversation lasted for 2.5 years without ever really stopping...
Every time that Daniel and I visit Athens together, the city where we met, it feels nostalgic and exciting. But this time, on June 18th, it felt different. Daniel was unusually nervous as we made plans to visit all of our favorite local spots like Mama's boy, the botanical gardens, Athens Church, Jittery Joe's coffee shop, campus, and downtown. When Daniel asked me to walk through North Campus (one of our usual stops), I was ready to enjoy the beautiful weather. I wasn't suspecting anything until Daniel took off his sunglasses for the first time in the two and a half years that we had been dating.. and when he walked me over to Herty field and got down on one knee, it was the most perfect moment I could have ever dreamed of.
