We had been getting to know each other for several weeks before we realized that we both had plans to attend the same concert. We talked about meeting up once we got there and anxiously awaited our first encounter. Then, the most unthinkable thing happened. It rained. Amanda didn't want to be seen for the first time all soaking wet, and Bryan was sitting in the lap of luxury - seats under the cover of the rain. We continued to text about how great Nelly still was, but we never saw each other that night. Actually, Amanda didn't hear from Bryan for months. Strike one.
Several months later Amanda received a message... "I'm still waiting for you at the concert." This unexpected and random text is what led us to our next dating hurdle. Unofficially, we had plans to go out after work. But Bryan was playing it cool - where we were going and what time we were getting there remained a mystery. At the time, Amanda was a substitute teacher and was just about to leave school for the day. After walking students to the buses, she returned to the classroom to pick up her bag and leave for her hot date, only to find that the classroom door was jammed shut. This wouldn't have been a problem except, her keys and cell phone were locked inside. Amanda frantically went searching for someone to pry the door open. Meanwhile, as time passed and Bryan didn't hear from her, he was sure that she was playing hard to get. Hours later, they talked and decided to push the date to another day. Strike two.
Although we had two strikes against us, this wasn't over yet!
