On August 31, 2022, Vinny and Amanda were both going to attend an event at Del Vino - a vineyard on Long Island. Amanda's friend Jenna had told her about this event earlier in the summer (June). Amanda knew that she had always want to go to Del Vino, but it was always difficult to get a reservation, she knew that she wanted to attend. Fast forward to about 7-10 days before the event where Amanda and Jenna met up again and talked about the event. Amanda realized that it was the first day of school with students, to which Jenna said, "how much teaching are you doing that day anyways." Amanda planned to attend the event. She went to school that day and went back home to get ready, a bit tired, she decided she was going to go and wear the new dress (coined the sunset dress) she had purchased (although she didn't want to at first, but her friend Deanna and sister Nicole convinced her otherwise) in Miami that summer. Meanwhile Vinny was heading back to NY the night before taking the red eye from California. He literally only returned back to NY that exact morning, knowing the event was happening that night. He was a bit tired, but alas decided to also attend the event. They both had arrived to Del Vino around the same time. Amanda parked her car and noticed that Vinny was outside talking to what she assumed were his parents (they were), but as she parked the car and getting ready to walk in, she didn't want to be noticed going into the event. She walked up to the front door of Del Vino - it was a crisp clear evening, blue skies, sunset about to start, and no wind whatsoever; however, in that moment, the sign for the event had flown over. Frantically, Amanda had to pick up the sign, but who was there to help her pick it up...Vinny. His parents had vanished and the next thing he knew was he was right by the door. He did notice Amanda walking towards the entrance of Del Vino. He didn’t know if she was there for the event or for some other reason, but his eyes did catch a glimpse of the sunset dress. With a quick exchange, Vinny said, "don't worry, I can get that." To which Amanda handed over the sign to him. He then proceeded to open the door for her and said, "let me get that for you, it's the least that I can do." Amanda proceeded inside to the event. A little while later, Amanda had been chatting with a friend that was also at the event. Vinny was also in the room and was trying to make his way to her because Jenna had mentioned he should go talk to "the girl with the white jacket" aka Amanda. He eventually made his way to her and Amanda said, "look it's the guy that opened the door for me." After a few exchanges within the group that they were with, they got to exchanging names, and small talk. The rest of the evening as Amanda recalls, Vinny had seemed to "find" her all night to chat. They chatted what seemed to be the whole night and at the end Amanda actually gave Vinny her business card as a form of giving him her number. They said goodbye for the night since Amanda had school the next day. Vinny texted her the next day and asked her to go out that weekend - Labor Day Weekend. They did and the rest is history.
