Dating during a pandemic was interesting. Scrolling, swiping, trying to match with a potential partner was exciting and a good way to pass the time. Amanda created her dating profile and highlighted the fact that she wanted someone who wouldn't just read the caption and wanted someone to take the time to look at the whole profile. On one of the dating apps in April 2020--where love is rare to find-- Tyrone DM'd Amanda saying something unique and creative. The message went something like, "I read more than your caption, I learned a lot by dissecting your whole profile but I want to know more." There was more to the message but the point is that Tyrone put in extra effort to show Amanda he was interested. Amanda read the message and decided not to reply unsure if it was another catfish or someone trying to waste her time. A few days later, a little voice in Amanda's head said to go back and reread Tyrone's message to give it a shot. Amanda replied and they never stopped talking. They talked on the phone, texted, video chatted, and planned virtual dates. Tyrone finally requested an in-person date after a few weeks to see if this could be a sure thing. Restaurants still had strict guidelines on in-person dining so Tyrone planned a romantic car date which included Chik Fil-A, sweet treats, music, dancing outside of the car, laughs and lots of smiles. There was a spark and connection that was undeniable. Tyrone helped Amanda find Christ, Amanda showed Tyrone what unconditional love felt like, and their relationship flourished. After almost five years of dating, Tyrone planned a special surprise at his home church, Solid Rock, after the New Year's Eve service. The clock struck midnight, everyone was worshipping and celebrating the new year and then the pastor comes up and calls Tyrone up to the stage for a new year testimony. Tyrone begins speaking and calls Amanda to the stage to join him and she hesitantly walked up, feeling clueless. Tyrone continued speaking and then began professing his love for Amanda. He directed everyone's attention to the screen behind them which showed pictures of the them and the words "Will you marry me?" popped up on the screen. When Amanda turned back to Tyrone, he was on one knee asking for her hand in marriage. In complete and total shock Amanda said, "YES!" Celebrated by their family and loved ones it was a beautiful moment. Their beautiful journey only continues from here!
