Our Story

08.09.2010

The beginning of our story is your typical “high school sweetheart” story, but it was also the start of the rest of our lives. We met in home room on the very first day of High School. We quickly hit it off and became friends! As time went by, he asked me to be his girlfriend three times. I was definitely stubborn back then but then again nothing has changed! Saying yes was one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made. He became my anchor during an extremely difficult time in my life. He helped me heal and truly saw me for me, the good and the bad. He became my closest, truest friend and he always will be. In college we decided to remain friends but to "see what else was out there.” This didn’t change our relationship much. We created a close knit friend group together and saw one another on a weekly basis. The summer after our Freshman year he went to Shreveport, Louisiana where his dad had been recently stationed. I went to my mom’s in Clearwater Beach, Florida to find a summer job. After that, Tyler decided not to go back to school and instead enlist in the navy. After bootcamp he went on to Monterey, California to learn Russian. During his time studying to become a linguist, I had lost my academic scholarship and decided to enlist in the Air Force and pursue broadcast journalism. The schoolhouse for Broadcast Journalists is at Fort Meade, Maryland. A week or two after my arrival on Ft. Meade, Tyler called me to tell me that he was selected for the Submarine mission following his graduation. His duty station would be none other than Ft. Meade. “WOW!” I thought...How is it that an Air Force Broadcast Journalist and a Navy Russian Linguist both get stationed at the same Army base at the same time?! We thought it must be fate! We are now working and living in D.C. with a house and the best dogs you could ask for, Cash and June. We are so excited to celebrate our big day with you all.
