We’re Getting Married!

Tiago and Amanda’s story began nearly a decade ago, back in the halls of high school. What started as a friendship among a mutual group of friends blossomed into something deeper. We spent countless summer days laughing and chatting, until one day when we decided to hang out just the two of us. On October 21st, 2015, we went on our very first date—simple yet unforgettable: Tim Hortons and a late-night movie that Amanda had to cut short, rushing home because it was "way past curfew". Little did we know, that date was the start of something truly special. We started hanging out nearly every day and have been inseparable ever since. From that first date, we continued to explore the world together, sharing more memories with every step. High school classes, biking to our dates before we could drive, endless basketball games, and finally, graduation. Then came university, and sure enough we found ourselves living just four floors apart in the same building. From there, we followed each other’s dreams—Tiago, pursuing university basketball in Brandon, and Amanda, entering into the demanding world of nursing school. Through it all, we stood by each other. We traveled together to Italy, where we wandered through cobblestone streets, making some of our best memories. Tiago graduated with his undergraduate degree and has been working hard towards his masters in physiotherapy. Amanda graduated nursing school and began her nursing career in the NICU. Through it all, we have continued to grow together, learning, evolving, and becoming the best versions of ourselves. Finally, after 9 years and 2 months together, on December 28th, Tiago got on one knee and proposed. Amanda kind of saw it coming but still couldn't believe it was finally happening. We went for dinner and Tiago couldn't even eat because of his nerves, Amanda continually made jokes about him having the ring in his pocket or pretending that he was going to propose in the restaurant- this didn't help his nerves. After dinner we took a walk through the Forks, a place we had frequently gone for dates. Tiago set up his camera in front of the bridge that we had a tradition of taking a picture in front of, and sure enough he was doing it to capture the proposal. With God as our rock, we’ve built a life full of cherished moments, pushing each other to reach new heights and discovering that our bond is truly unbreakable. From high school sweethearts to partners in every sense of the word, we have grown up side by side, sharing not just dreams but also the courage to make them come true. And now, as we stand on the brink of forever, we know that this is just the beginning of the most incredible journey yet.
