During senior week, my friends and I stayed at Wildwood, NJ. My friend Susan was dating Matt’s friend Bill at the time. Matt was extremely kind enough to drive Bill to Wildwood to hang out with Susan. When Matt and Bill arrived to the shore, Susan called me and asked if I wanted to join her, Bill and Matt at the boardwalk. I ended up meeting them at the Convention Center and we went on rides together. We even got pictures on the Ferris wheel and another slow ride. It was a fun time! I immediately felt sparks with Matt. He was cute with no beard LOL. After Matt and Bill left, Susan immediately texted me asking if I like Matt. I told her yes! With the help of Bill, Susan got Matt’s number for me. It was the start of something new.
Fun fact: I knew Matthew was going to propose to me! I actually overheard him asking my Dad for his blessing while I was in the bathroom. They were so loud! When this was all happening, I was stuck in the bathroom. I didn’t want to come out and walk in on them talking about the proposal in the living room. So.. I texted Susan and told her that Matt is going to propose. I knew it was happening, but I didn’t know the date. This happened early December. It is so rare for me to be surprised. I heard Lydia was going to spend New Years with us at Alec’s house. I also remembered my mom asking me and Matt to spend New Year’s Eve down the shore with her, Briana and my nephews. I connected the dots and knew Matt is going to propose on New Year’s Eve. When New Year’s Eve approached, Matt, Lydia, and I spent it at my childhood house in Lexington Ave. Covid ruined our chances to go to Alec’s house. It was still nice! I made jalapeño dip and ordered pizza. When it got to midnight , Matt got down on one knee and proposed. Even though I knew about the proposal, I still cried! Lydia got her camera and captured the moment.
