Amanda was in NYC with Lauren & Dylan for the weekend for a UFC fight and Nathan had been working in the city so Dylan invited him to the fight. The two met briefly before the fight with the group for drinks and bonded over our love of espresso martinis, or maybe Nathan was just flirting with her! Dylan & Nathan originally had different seats, but moved to sit with the girls in the open seats next to them, and Nathan made sure Amanda was sitting next to her. The two hit it off and didn't want the night to end, so, the four of them ended up where all love stories begin, an Irish dive-bar that never closes! Amanda made Nathan do several Bud Light vs Coors Light taste tests as the two got to know each other, all while Lauren and Dylan shared looks across the bar in disbelief. Early flights due to the NYC Marathon were hours away but Nathan didn't want his time with Amanda to end. While she packed up her suitcase, around 6 am, Nathan asked her to miss her flight back to Maine and spend the day in NYC with him. She immediately said no, but after a "don't mess this up" from Lauren, she made a few quick phone calls to make sure Ruby was taken care of, and agreed to stay. Making that, the best decision of her life. Later that night a phone call to her Mom saying, "Mom I think I met someone" and texts to Chantal and her best friends saying, "I just met my husband," sealed the deal. After his first trip to ME, he fell in love all over again, with Ruby, the ultimate test. Needless to say, the rest is history and "Mr. New York" turned into a "Mainer."
