Our wedding guests' health is of the utmost importance to us. We have decided to go forward with the wedding on the condition that everyone who wants to attend, and is able and has access to the vaccine, will get vaccinated. If you have restrictions preventing you from getting the vaccine, contact us directly so we can make arrangements that will keep everybody safe. As much as we want everyone there, we also want to be mindful of our responsibility to minimizing the spread of the pandemic.
Amanda and Mike first met through their mutual friend, Jenny. They hit it off at a party one night when Mike was teaching Amanda how to spin records, and they figured out they were born on the exact same day and year. Their lives at that point were headed on two different paths so they maintained a platonic friendship, then eventually lost touch after Mike moved to New York City. In 2012, Amanda was spending her first Christmas in Portland, when Mike visited his family in California and was hanging out with Jenny. Amanda came up in conversation, and later that evening she received a screenshot from Jenny where Mike texted her "I should've married that girl." That was the start of their long distance relationship, until Mike moved to Portland to be closer to Amanda in 2014.
Mike and Amanda had just finished their first full day in Portugal. After a walking food and drink tour of Lisbon, Amanda bought a bottle of Vinho Verde to enjoy on their scenic outdoor terrace. Once they got back to they apartment, she didn't even get to take a step outside before Mike surprised her with a ring.
