We met at Basic Officers Leadership Course (BOLC) in Fort Lee, Virginia. We were all housed in the same military hotel (IHG) Holiday Inn. We were both hanging out and playing cards with our friends in the lobby separately. I (Amanda) walked by his group with my friend, she immediately noticed one of his friends that she knew from college. They said hi, and Justin saw me standing there and took his shot. He introduced himself and we spent the next four months dating and frolicking in the mountains of Virginia. Our time in BOLC was coming to an end and we were both set to go our separate ways. He was heading to Fort Stewart, GA and I was on my way back to Arizona for the National Guard. Essentially, our summer time love had come to an end, but we kept in touch over the next couple months. Come Christmas, we were both missing each other very much and he asked if I'd like to spend the holidays with him. I said "only if you pay for my flight," and he didn't hesitate. Soon, I was in Georgia and we enjoyed candle lit dinners and danced the night away. Our love for one another instantly reignited. But again, we were about to go our separate ways again and decided it wasn't going to happen a second time. He flew back with me to Arizona to spend another week with me and asked if I'd like to be his girlfriend. OF COURSE I SAID YESSSSS! The rest is history and our summer lovin' continued and will until we're gray and old.
I (Amanda) had been anticipating this moment for quite sometime. Justin took me out for a date night, and my friend Keyla watched Grayson for us. Justin decided to mess with me and fake propose the whole night and made up stories about how we should go to Charleston or St. Augustine soon. I was so sad all night because I thought he wasn't going to propose. I was even texting Keyla about how sad I was. We had dinner on a roof top and it POURED down rain, we were covered but it still was not the best. The manager even refused to move us inside. After dinner, we went to have dessert at "Better Than Sex" ( a must try in Savannah), I decided I would just eat my feelings since he wasn't going to propose. We had amazing cheesecake! Finally, we drove home in the pouring rain and I was trying to hold back my tears. As we walked in the house Justin asked me to cover my eyes (on the inside I exclaimed YES! to myself), he walked me to our back deck and uncovered my eyes, there was romantic music playing and rose pedals, lights, and a whole beautiful scenery. Keyla and Grayson had been working hard while we were on our date. He got down on one knee and said that when he came to Georgia he knew he had to have me here with him! We kissed and I felt like an idiot, and was in AWE of my beautiful ring. Of course I said YES, FINALLY!!!!
