FAQs

Question

What is the easiest way to get to Victoria?

Answer

You can fly directly into Victoria International Airport (YYJ), or take a ferry from Vancouver or Seattle. Floatplanes from Seattle or downtown Vancouver are also a scenic and fun option!

Question

Do I need a passport to travel to Victoria?

Answer

Yes and No. If flying into Canada you will need a valid passport. If coming in on ferry, you can use an enhanced drivers license.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

It’s not necessary if you plan to stay downtown—Victoria is very walkable. However, a rental car is helpful if you’re staying outside the city or want to explore Vancouver Island.

Question

Where should I stay and is there a room block for wedding?

Answer

We didn’t reserve a block. Victoria is easily walkable and has lots of options to stay. We recommend hotels in downtown Victoria for easy access to wedding events and sightseeing.

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Cocktail attire for wedding. Casual for the other activities arranged. The weather in August is warm and sunny, but evenings can be cool—bring a light layer!

Question

Are kids invited?

Answer

Yes. Although for dinner it will be adults only and we have arranged fun activities and babysitters for the small children.

Question

What can we do while we’re in Victoria?

Answer

Victoria is full of charm! Check out Butchart Gardens, whale watching tours, Inner Harbour, and tea at the Empress Hotel. See our “Things to Do” page for more suggestions!
