We met through mutual friends and over a period of time decided to go on our first official date, Who's On Third in Milwaukee. We started to write letters to each other over the Christmas break in 2019. (Yes we realize we have phones but wanted to do something old fashioned) After weeks of going on dates while making fajitas in Amanda's college house we decided to make it official on a Sunday evening after a snowball fight. Maybe, that is why we love Mexican food so much?! Soon everyone's world flipped upside down when COVID made its way to the United States. Jake returned from Houston, on vacation from spring break and Amanda’s UWO games in Florida were canceled. Amanda helped him move north to Green Bay, WI. Although it was a difficult time we made the most of our time visiting each other every couple of weeks. Motivating each other to finish school strong and complete workouts for Amanda's super senior year of softball. In the Fall of 2020, Amanda returned to UW Oshkosh and Jake began student teaching. When he finished student teaching she was on her way to playing her senior year of softball in the spring of 2021. When Jake was not able to come to the games because he was teaching in his first year at Oconto, he always kept up with the game and her stats with his students. Jake drove through the night to support Amanda at the D3 College World Series games in Salem, Virginia. (Jake claims that if that didn't prove his love for Amanda then nothing would!) After softball ended we spent our first summer together in Oshkosh. Attending many events and going on many trips. As time progressed eventually we moved in together February of 2022. The next school year Amanda accepted a teaching position in Oconto. It made life easier being in the same district. Jake says, “Amanda’s role in helping make my dream a reality by furthering my coaching career has been truly amazing.” She has done so much to help out the football/basketball teams that he coaches. Spending many hours running around getting shirts for him, getting pizza for the athletes, and even attending games supporting him and the athletes. Not to mention all the meals cooked and picking up the extra slack when he arrives home late from a game/practice. In February of 2023, Jake decided it was time to officially ask Amanda for her hand in marriage. We were engaged at Cave Point in Door County. The following day Jake planned a surprise engagement party with all our friends and family! Since that time we have dedicated a majority of our time to our students and athletes. We are extremely excited to get married at Southern Charm on July 13th, 2024. We look forward to sharing our story with anyone anyone who can attend!
