Jabra and I met on my birthday in 2017, we started working out together as friends and spending way too long on the treadmill laughing uncontrollably at times until we realized we wanted to be more than just workout buddies. I took HIM out on our first date to a comedy show, because laughing is what first brought us closer together and it seemed a perfect fit. The comedian singled us out immediately as a new couple due to how close we sat together holding hands, he hysterically told Jay I was out of his league and he needed to “lock it down” before I wised up (still laughing). The performer ended his bit with us by saying congrats on our first date and to come see him once we made it to date 24, well he wasn’t in town performing on that 24th date but we bought his act on CD that night and pulled it out for a listen after 24 months together instead. A year into our relationship we had an even bigger laugh when we pretended to get married in Vegas unbeknownst to everyone we knew! To this day we still have laughs and comments from friends & family about how funny or unfunny they found the prank at the time, both prove to us it was the right choice haha. Jay’s proposal came 1 month after our 2 year anniversary on January 4th of 2020. I was in complete shock, I always thought due to his hesitancy to plan and his inability to keep a secret that I would know if/when that day was coming, well folks I did not. After I left him on his knee long enough to comprehend he was really asking, I said yes! There were laughs and there were tears from both of us and we’re so excited to share this coming journey with all of our friends and family, for real this time. ;)
