Not really. We just ask that you wear something somewhat semi-formal and something that will keep you warm if the day turns out to be cold. If you want some inspiration, our wedding colors are going to be sage, dark green, terracotta orange, and brown (fall colors)!
We will be holding the ceremony at the reception hall, inside! We don't want to be wet and cold either. However, if it is lightly raining or raining on and off, we will update everyone on what the plan will be at the reception hall/shuttle pickup area.
We really recommend you come early! The reception hall will be open at 10am to hang out at or you can explore the park's beautiful sights beforehand. The last shuttle is expected to leave around 2:15pm. Also, there will be no way to park at the ceremony area. We would still be happy to see you at the reception! If you truly don't want to miss the ceremony, there is a parking area near the Fall Creek Falls Overlook, and you can walk 0.2 miles along the side of the road to the Secret Overlook. That parking lot is available to all other park patrons though, and so it may be very difficult to find a spot.
Yes! Please just keep an eye on them! We don't anyone to get hurt or lost during the big day. We'll try to accommodate, but we suggest that you pack some snacks if they're very picky.
For those that are staying in a cabin or the Lodge, reach out to the park services for pet friendly rooms. Pets are allowed in certain areas outdoors. Please keep an eye out for signs as the park seal off areas that are being preserved for nature. Pets are absolutely not allowed in indoor buildings (reception hall). Make sure you're first in line for the shuttle after the ceremony if you need to check up on your pet(s) during the cocktail hour.
The state park doesn't allow certain items to protect the beauty of the park and the environment. These items include rice, confetti, and glitter. So we will not be doing a send-off by spreading these items. Please visit the park's website for updated rules and restrictions.
The nearest big city could be over an hour away. Please have everything you think you may need before arriving. There's a small convenience store right by the reception hall that provides a small selection of hygiene and camping supplies. Snacks and drinks will be available throughout the designated spots, but you're welcome to bring your own. Restrooms are available in the reception hall, throughout the park, and in the parking lot of the Fall Creek Falls Overlook (0.2 mile walk from the ceremony area). Cell service is limited throughout the park. We suggest that you download an offline version the map beforehand through services such us Google Maps. You can also obtain a physical copy of the map and other brochures in the Park's visitor center and the Lodge. Check the state park's website or call for more information about active military, veteran, and TN resident discounts. The Lodge and the park operate separately. Make sure you save the phone numbers that you actually need. Planning on camping? Reach out to us if you need to borrow camping supplies or need somewhere to get dressed.
