We all know this is Amanda's favorite! The base of Sonoma wine country is just a 20 minute drive the venue and houses some of our favorite wineries like BR Cohn, Gundlach Bundschu, and a gazillion more. Downtown Sonoma is also such a treat. Napa just 15 minutes farther with amazing vineyards like Stags Leap Wine Cellars (located in the Stags Leap region of Napa), Alpha Omega, or Mumm for you bubbles lovers. Hopefully the weather will be great and there is nothing more socially-distanced-friendly than frolicking in a vineyard with a glass of wine!
Head across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy all the beauty....and maybe the fog (hey, Karl!) that San Francisco has to offer. Our favorite spots? The Ferry Building on the Embarcadero, right by where Evan proposed and Amanda bought bread....more often than not. Grab a coffee from Blue Bottle while you're at it. North Beach is a quick walk from there where you can get great pizza and pasta. We love Il Casaro and Cafe Macaroni! You can also pop over to Hayes Valley or the Marina for great boutiques, outdoor dining, and ice cream. Don't forget the Mission. If you don't get a Mission burrito while you're in SF, you're missing out. We're big fans of El Farolito. When you need to walk that off, you can check out the amazing street art in the area and see the original Philz Coffee.
For a scenic and yummy experience, head out to Hog Island Oyster Co. where you can enjoy some fresh oysters. Their oyster shucking experience is currently closed due to COVID, but hopefully that opens back up in time for the wedding. Even if it's not, their outdoor dining is still open. It's a 45 minute windy drive from Novato.
Don't sleep on Alameda. It has a great row of breweries, distilleries, and wineries with huge outdoor seating areas and great views of the San Francisco skyline. Check out Rockwall Wine Company, Faction Brewing, and one of our favorites, Hangar 1 Vodka. It's about a 45 minute drive from the venue.
