Our spouses-to-be didn’t have your run-of-the-mill coffee shop ‘meet cute’ when it came to the start of their relationship, but the result is an unconventional story to call their own. If you ask them, there are slightly different versions to the tale. One thing is for sure though, it all started on the race track.
How did you two meet? We met through racing. I believe at Granite City Speedway. We had dated for about 4 years before we got engaged. How did you know he was the one? I knew Dexton was the one at meet the drivers night at Granite City. That night I earned the nickname “The cookie girl”. He was quick to ask if I would stay down to help with the kids and meet his family back at the trailer after the races. A few weeks later Dexton gave me the honor of doing his tire work. This race night really sealed the deal. What was the proposal like? The proposal was nothing like I’d hoped for. Dexton proposed in Austin, TX after dinner next to a beautiful tree lit up with Christmas lights. I very quickly said yes to get him off one knee. In the car back to the hotel, we agreed that we were not going to tell anyone until we got home. Disappointed that Dexton didn’t pop the question where we met, I asked if he wanted the ring back to propose again during race season!
How did you two meet? We first started talking through Facebook. We both had seen each other at the track before but never talked. She was always around some Dave Mass guy that raced a Super stock. I’ve never even heard of this guy until then. How did you know she was the one? I knew Amanda was the one after tasting her mom’s cookies and watching her grind tires at Granite city speedway. What was the proposal like? The proposal went fairly well in Austin, TX, took her out to a steak dinner and did it under a tree in a Christma- lit garden. The day after the proposal Amanda was not feeling well. Not sure if it was the food or nervous that she would be stuck with me for the rest of her life.
