After ten years of playing in orchestra together, Austen asked Amanda to senior prom out of the blue. Despite knowing of each other for a decade, they had barely ever spoken before. The two "quiet" kids fell in love on prom night, and after a whirlwind summer romance, they decided to try long distance- 757 miles apart. The visits were short and far between, but it was so sweet to step off a train and run into each other's arms. Four years and a transfer to a closer college later, against all odds, they loved each other even more than they did as teenagers. After four more years of doing real life together, they have finally decided to tie the knot!

On the eight year anniversary of Amanda and Austen shaking hands to agree to be boyfriend and girlfriend, Austen planned eight activities to do throughout the day. He made breakfast, they walked around the neighborhood, they rollerbladed like they did on their very first date, ate lunch, went to the aquarium, got ice cream, ate the most amazing dinner at True Blue Steakhouse, and finally went for a walk on the beach during sunset. When they got under the pier, Austen said, "I think this is the place. Do you still want to spend the rest of your life with me?" Then he got on one knee and asked Amanda to marry him. She said yes!
