How We Met

If you love something, set it free: If it returns, it was yours. If it doesn't, it was never meant to be.

We met by chance when he was riding my school bus to get to work. Exchanged numbers after a few minutes of conversation, and went our separate ways. Texts turned to phone calls, which turned into more. We were two teenage hopeless romantics who swore we would always be together. But life took us our separate ways. We lived, loved, and grew in that time. We like to say that time gave us the chance to figure out who we were as people, and to figure out what we needed in a partner. We met again in a time when we both had experienced painful realities. Lunch turned into dates, which turned into all night conversations. We spoke, laughed, and got to know on another all over again. It was then that we realized we wanted to spend the rest of our lives getting to know each other.
