The Meeting

College, Packers, and Zombies

Our paths first crossed at the University of Minnesota when Amanda attended a Packer party at Matt's college house (Oozma). Matt was amazed by Amanda's stunning green eyes and Amanda swooned over Matt's "creative" dance moves. Thanks to mutual friends, we continued to run into each other over the next month. The friendship changed into something more on the night of the Zombie Pub Crawl when Matt kindly walked Amanda home. With ghost-white faces and some very believable scars (thanks to Amanda's handy make-up work), Matt built up the courage to plant a kiss on Amanda's cheek and ask for her number.

The Adventure

Careers, Seattle, and Mountains

A burning desire for adventure and the promise of good jobs led us to Seattle, where Amanda works as a Graphic Designer and Matt as a Sales Engineer. Whether it's hiking, skiing, or climbing, chances are if we aren't working (or watching a Packers game) you can probably find us in the mountains.

The Proposal

St. Helens, Summit Pizza, and a Ring

On April 27th, 2019, with the company of Amanda's brother, we climbed to the top of Mount Saint Helens. When we finally reached the summit Amanda could only think of eating her pizza, while Matt was focused on something else. Matt asked if Adam would take a picture of the two of them, but rather than posing, Matt turned to Amanda and stumbled through some rehearsed words. He then got on one knee, presented a ring, and asked Amanda to marry him. Everyone cheered with great joy, and some even say St. Helens let out a faint sound of applause.

The Ceremony

COVID-19, Change-of-Change-of Plans, and a Colorado Wedding

2020 was a strange year for all of us, with lots of unexpected changes and whole lot of unknowns. But if there was one thing we knew for sure, it was that we would get married on our originally planned date, no matter what. So on September 18—after planning, replanning and then replanning some more—we tied the knot in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with the company of our parents and siblings. While it wasn’t the wedding we originally planned, it turned out to be a perfect day that we will cherish forever. We can’t wait to continue the festivities and celebrate our marriage with all of you on September 17, 2021!
