Question

Do I need vaccines to travel to Belize? (This is the nurse in me coming out!)

Answer

The CDC recommends that all travelers are up to date on routine vaccines (MMR, Tdap, varicella (chicken pox) and annual flu). Check with your doc if you're not sure if you are up-to-date. It is generally recommended that when traveling to tropical areas that we are vaccinated against HepA (food/water borne) and possibly Typhoid (also food/water borne). I'd talk with your doc about these. Malaria risk is low--so vaccination NOT recommended. *There is risk for Zika Virus--pregnant women should not travel to Belize...and we will all need bug spray.
