Two Mets fans walk into a bar (ok they met online and had been messaging one another for a little first), they talk about their love for the NY Rangers and pop-punk music and their shared bittersweet anguish over the fact that they're both die-hard Mets fans for life (the Mets life chooses you). Amanda attempted to order fancy beer to impress Alex (she didn't call him Al yet), yet managed to order the same beer 3 times. At the end of the night, they both knew something special had happened. From there they've shared tons of adventures: endless concerts, camping with Zeus in Vermont, seeing the Mets on Opening Day for the first time ever, welcoming their aptly named pup Shea Girl into the family, and now embarking on marriage.
It was a beautiful Tuesday afternoon and Amanda had suggested a beach walk with the pups instead of heading to the gym. After dinner and some backyard time with the dogs though, Al suggested an ice cream trip instead - if you know Amanda, you know she has never said no to ice cream. On the drive to downtown Milford (Amanda's first place of residence in CT), Al seemed calm and collected as the two listened to some music from his high school band (big ups to BTC). After waiting in line for what seemed like forever, they got their ice cream and began to walk around the marina, eventually finding a gazebo to sit in. The sun was setting beautifully on the water, as swans swam past and two little ducks snuggled together. Amanda turned to put down her ice cream, and when she turned back around, it was happening, Al took her hand and pivoted toward the ground on one knee. Neither really remembers exactly what was said, except for "Yes". After a lot of "Ahhhhh"s, they walked up the road for a celebratory beer at Eli's Tavern, their first date spot, sitting in the same seats they sat in on the night they met.
