Most visitors should apply for an Indian e-Visa (e-Tourist Visa) online before travel. Its quick, paperless and doesn't require sending your passport to a consulate. After approval, you'll get an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) by email that you print and present on arrival - your visa is then stamped into your passport at immigration.
