Matt and Alyvia were both sophomores at Iowa State University never having heard of one another. Matt was in a fraternity, Phi Delta Theta and Alyvia in a sorority, Gamma Phi Beta. Their sophomore year roommates, and Alyvia's Maid of Honor, Lauren were set to attend Phi Delta Theta fraternity formal together in April of 2019 when Matt's original date said she could no longer go. Instantly, Lauren said - I have the perfect girl for you (and boy was she right)! The two never having met or even seen each other, agreed to be each other's dates for the weekend away in Kansas City, MO. Once Matt picked Alyvia and Lauren up to make the drive, Alyvia looked over at Lauren and whispered "Well, he's not what I was expecting, but he sure is cute!" The two enjoyed a great weekend together with friends and when they got back to Ames, they never lost touch. Shortly after arriving back in Ames, Alyvia was set to head off to Greece for her summer study abroad program. Being 8 hours a part, these two stayed connected everyday through texts and FaceTime dates. Once Alyvia returned to the states to start their junior year, Matt asked her to officially be his girlfriend. The two graduated from Iowa State together, added Jax to the family, and quickly post-grad made the trek to Phoenix, AZ to start their next chapter. While in Phoenix, they made lots of friends and fun memories but 3 years later, made the move back to their home in MN to start their forever chapter. They purchased a home in Mound MN, added Juneau to their family, and got engaged.
