We met at our high school at the begining of the 2019-2020 school year. Aly was a senior in high school participating in the Running Start program at Eastern, and Ty was a junior. When Aly's day at the college was over, she would go to the high school to do tasks related to her presidential position within the DECA club in Mr.Cagle's classroom. Ty just so happened to be a TA for Mr. Cagle. Ty and Aly became good friends and officially decided to date 4 months after meeting. They were together until the beginning of Ty's senior year, when they decided it would be best to "take a break". Ty graduated from high school, and Aly finished another year at EWU. They had occasional contact during this time, but spent 8 months apart growing individually. In July of 2021, Aly decided to re-accept Ty's friend request on Instagram. Shortly after they decided to rekindle their friendship, Ty moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, to attend college. Aly and Ty decided this would be a great way to see if their connection was "meant to be". Surprise, surprise... it was! Although they spent about 4 months apart, their love for one another blossomed. In December 2021, Ty decided Twin Falls was not for him and moved back home. Fast forward to September 7th, 2024.... Aly and Ty spent the day at Aly's family lake house, celebrating her dad's birthday and enjoying the sun. Little did Aly know, this would be her last day as just a girlfriend. September 8th, 2024 Aly and Ty headed back home from the lake house and Ty decided he wanted to go fishing- Aly was along for the ride. On the way to pick up the boat, Ty suggested that they stop by their "sunset spot" (a road that Ty and Aly would occasionally stop by to watch the sunset- and where Ty told Aly he loved her in April of 2020). They arrived, hopped out of the truck, took what Aly thought was just going to be a picture..... but Ty started to drop down onto one knee and ask Aly to marry him! Of course, her answer was yes! They did not go fishing that morning, instead, they drove into town and had a celebratory breakfast at Benee's (another important spot in their story as this was the spot of their first "official" date in high school), and told their family the news!
