After being introduced by a mutual friend, Travis, while traveling in 2016, ventured to Utah to meet Alyssa. It was intended to be a short trip where they went on a date but they connected instantaneously and Travis decided to stick around and see how things turned out. Things felt at home from the start. The first week they were asked multiple times how long they had been a couple. Friends and family said that they were very much themselves around each other. So much so that Alyssa asked Travis to come to a family reunion on week two. It turned out to be the best way Travis could meet the entire family all at once; showing up with cornrows and genie pants and making an everlasting impression on Laurie (future mother-in-law) by accidentally pulling the TV from the Airbnb straight off the wall. Like men do, Travis had a hard time figuring out what he wanted. This led to a long distance relationship for about 2 years where Travis lived in Las Cruces and Alyssa in Salt Lake. It was spent earning Southwest points, working on careers and planning trips to spend time together. In 2018, between a decision to move to Florida and end the relationship or move to Utah and give regular dating a try, Travis made the smart decision to rent a house in Salt Lake which he named “WindowRock”. He had goals to date Alyssa, have a garage for the race car and get a dog. Between then & now, Alyssa has joined Travis as a WindowRock resident along with their pups, the goodest boy, Benny Benson, and the sweetest deaf girl, Mochi Hatch. Although Alyssa lost her engagement ring three weeks after Travis proposed on their favorite hike in Sep 2020, Travis still wanted to marry her. So badly that he re-proposed with an identical ring again on NYE 2021. As the mutual friend, Mike, would say, “I always knew Travis was cowboy enough for Alyssa.” And if you know Alyssa, you know this was a dream of hers since her FFA years in high school; to end up with a handsome cowboy who owns a truck.
