When Alyssa was on a trip back home to Melbourne from college in Tampa, some friends had a house party where she tagged along. At this party, on the back patio, you could say it was a “love at first sight,” moment. Or Steven just really loved Alyssa’s Blink 182 shirt, but alas, digits were not exchanged. Some years went by where they saw each other in passing, but the timing must not have been right. After Alyssa graduated college and moved back to town, she was scrolling Facebook and saw a familiar face. The two were dating by the end of that week and the rest is history

All Alyssa ever wanted in an engagement was to never suspect the proposal, and Steven absolutely succeeded. January 7, 2021, Steven’s 28th birthday. They hadn’t made any plans in advance (or so Alyssa thought), so in true Steven form, he asked Alyssa where they should go to eat. The two decided on Outback Steakhouse. It was an okay dinner but Alyssa did notice things were a little quiet, but still not enough to notice anything was off. Steven had hurt his back VERY bad at work and could honestly barely move, so she assumed he was uncomfortable. After dinner Steven took a different way home. He is always one to avoid traffic at any cost, so again, Alyssa didn’t think anything of it. After a bit of driving through a neighborhood, Steven stopped the car and asked if Alyssa knew where they were, as he had secretly queued up on of “their songs.” Alyssa had no idea where they were. That’s when Steven told her they were at the house where they had first met at that party, as he slipped a ring on her finger. In the dark, Alyssa just asked “what is that?” As she began to cry. After asking a few more times, Steven was finally able to get a, “yes,” out of her.
