Why now?

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day. The beautiful gown, the smell of the flowers, the gaze of her soon to be husband as he waits for her at the end of the isle. Since she was young, the Pinterest board has been prepared, her dress already picked, her dreams prepared to become reality. Yet, reality seemed to have other plans. Our story begins in April of 2017, when we met at a backyard barbecue. Like many of the events in our story, our relationship was swift and unexpected. The month of December was no exception. I was pregnant. Jeremiah 29:11 states, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" And God, did just that. By August of 2018 we were engaged to be married and soon after, on September 7th, we welcomed our daughter into the world. Lainey. Her name meant light, and that’s exactly what she was. In that moment something changed. Our lives, our dreams, our wants; they weren’t ours anymore. Instead, we lived for her. Living for her meant sacrificing for her. A wedding was not what our baby needed. What she needed was a home. With this in mind, in January of 2019 we were married in a very intimate ceremony that was shared between only us. In June of 2020, the decision to not have a traditional wedding paid off and we purchased our home. A little house with a privacy fence and room to grow. It was everything our family needed. Soon after the purchase of our home, things fell perfectly into place and life was good to us. So why now, 7 years together and 6 years of marriage later? Well… Because every little girl dreams of their wedding day, and ours will be there to see it.
