Her Side

08.18.2014

I met Nate on August 18, 2014. We were in our 7th-grade year at Powell Middle School and we were in several classes together. In art class, he asked me to borrow a pencil and I panicked and gave him my friend's who was in the bathroom. If she asks, I still have no idea where it went. (Our secret) Most of this year included me having a huge crush on him, but being too shy to say anything. I homeschooled for my 8th-grade year, but Nate and I still stayed in touch. I always knew there was something special about him and I continued to have a crush on him. I came back to public school with him for 9th grade and the streak continued of us talking over the phone every single day. We almost went to homecoming, but I was too scared. I did online school for my 10th and 11th grade of high school and I continued to stay in touch because he was too special to me. At the end of 11th grade, Nate asked me to go see Aladdin with him at the movies. He didn't know this at the time, but Disney is always the way to win my heart. We began dating on May 27, 2019. This was the beginning of the most beautiful relationship I have ever experienced. He was instantly my best friend. There was no awkward phase and I never had any reservations about him. Throughout the next three years, Nate and I went to senior prom, graduated from Arapahoe High School, went to college at Colorado State University, and joined several ministries. No matter where I went, what I did, or what my life looked like, Nate was my home. We began giving our lives to Jesus and going to church together. He challenges me to live my life without fear and rely on Jesus no matter what I do. He brought me up my first six 14ers and many, many hikes in between. The mountains became our safe place. Even though I left CSU to graduate from Purdue University Global, I still had my best friend by my side. On July 20, 2022, Nate and I hiked our favorite hike and at the top, he proposed to me. Of course, I bawled my eyes out because Jesus gave me such a special gift. We have had so many incredible memories together and he has shown me that he is the most gentle, comforting, patient, kind, smart, and handsome man that I could've asked for. God knew what He was doing when He handcrafted this man. God is the foundation of our relationship and I can't wait to fulfill His calling for us to get married at such a young age. Our wedding will be on our four-year anniversary. ♡ I am so excited to grow up with him, become one in the flesh, and start my forever with him. ♡ Alyssa

His Side

08.14.2014

The first time that I met Lyssie was in 7th grade. She was wayyyyyy too shy to come to talk to a huge hunk of meat like me, which is completely understandable. So instead, she sent her friend to come ask for my number. We promptly started an extremely serious dating relationship in the 7th grade, so serious in fact, that we never actually talked to each other face to face. It was safe to say, that I was in. Fast forward a few years down the line, Lyssie and I are still talking, but our dating has long ended. One day, as she is leaving for Hawaii, I asked her to hang out with me when she got back. When she got back, we went on our first official date to go see Aladdin in the movie theaters. This was also the time in our lives when Christ was slowly making his way into our minds and hearts, but we didn't know that yet. After 6 or so months of dating through our senior year of high school, several major things happened. First, we decided to give our lives to the Lord, and we rededicated our relationship to his glory (great decision by the way). Secondly, the entire world was shut down because of COVID, giving Lyssie and I a lot of time to grow our relationship with each other and the Lord. We finished up high school, and looked to college together. Now we are approaching the end of college. Lyssie is done, I have 3 more semesters left, and I couldn't be happier with where my life is at. A lot of people may think that we are stupid for getting married at such a young age, but I know that the Lord has entrusted me with Lyssie, and I am committed to giving her all that I have unconditionally. The Lord has used Lyssie to grow me in so many different areas of my life, drawing me away from my old self, and ushering me into my new life. I look to the future excited to grow with Christ and Lyssie, and no matter what lies ahead, it truly is well with my soul. ♡Nate
