Mishael lived his entire life in Israel. In 2017, he was selected to be the Israeli emissary at Duke University, just one city away from where Alyssa was living in Raleigh, North Carolina. Skeptical at first, they both downloaded a dating app. The first person Alyssa matched with was this handsome, Israeli man. It was almost too good to be true. When they met, Mishael couldn't believe there was actually a cute, Jewish girl in the south. They met at a local bar and there was an instant connection. Somehow, growing up in different countries with different languages and cultures, didn't seem to matter. The rest was history...
Mishael proposed during a weekend getaway in the Smoky Mountains. One evening, Alyssa stepped outside onto the back porch of the secluded cabin to the rushing sounds of the private river side and their favorite song. Mishael got down on one knee and asked "התנשאי לי" ("will you marry me?"). Of course, she said "כן" ("yes")! Fun Fact: The next morning, North Carolina had the strongest earthquake in over a century. I guess you can say their engagement caused the earth to move ;)
