Alyssa’s POV: I remember seeing Mike a few times at various club lax functions, but it wasn’t until I met him at a freshman-only pregame in East Halls I went to talk to him. I assumed he hated me because he didn’t really have much to say to me, but it didn’t stop me from going back up to him later at the formal to ask if he saw so-and-so. He said no, so I kissed him on the cheek and walked away. The next day he asked me out on a date (really the first boy to ever ask me on a date!), and he took me to some fine dining in East Halls Dining Commons and to the Arboretum. As I got to know him better (past his shyness), I realized how funny he was but more so how kind, patient and loyal he was. I realized what a gem I stumbled upon and it would be no surprise to freshman Alyssa to learn that that this is the man I will marry. Mike’s POV: I first remember seeing Alyssa at Penn State on the lacrosse field as she was finishing practice with the women’s club lacrosse team. I was putting my cleats on as she walked by me and out of all the girls on the team I couldn’t keep my eyes off of her. Thinking back on it - I probably looked like a total creep. I continued to see her here-and-there at club lacrosse events. However, I knew I wanted to date her after one particular night at a club lacrosse formal. I was getting a beer when she came up to me and asked me where one of her friends was. I said I was not sure and she kissed me on the cheek and said goodbye. For the rest of that night I couldn’t stop thinking about her - she was gorgeous, lively, smart, and so fun to be around. I was very shy but knew if I didn’t ask her out the next day somebody else would. I don’t know how it happened but she agreed to go on a date with me. So, I took her to the fanciest place(s) that a freshman at Penn state could - the East Halls Dining Commons and the Arboretum.
