We do ask for our guests to be dressed in a modest fashion during the nuptial mass. Whether this means wearing a sleeved dress reaching at least mid thigh, or bringing along a cardigan, doesn't matter. This does also apply to the men. We request no jeans, sneakers, or casual shirts are worn at the wedding.
The mass will start at 2PM, so it's best to arrive between 30 and 20 minutes early to ensure parking and find your seat beforehand.
Our wedding ceremony will be a full Mass, meaning that it will last about a hour and a half. We will have programs available that will also include Mass parts and responses for you to follow along. During a Mass, there takes place a holy sacrifice where the priest converts bread and wine into what Catholics believe is the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. The Eucharist is reserved for practicing Catholics who are in a current state of grace. Our non-Catholic and non-practicing friends are welcome and invited to receive a blessing from the priest at the front of the line. This is indicated by crossing both arms across the chest when coming to the front.
The short answer is yes, there will be drinks served at the reception for the wedding. Because of funds though, we have decided to have a cash bar for drinks. The bartenders will be in charge of rates and supplies to make this day safe and fun.
Yes. Alyssa regularly veils for mass, and understands that it feels weird now to not wear one when in the presence of the Eucharist. Therefore, if you do normally veil for mass, and would like to wear one also for this mass, please do not feel that you are taking away from anything. If anything, you are showing your love and reverence to our Lord and His sacrifice through the Holy Communion.
