Alyssa and Justin met one summer while working as camp counselors—Alyssa was 19 and Justin was 20. During orientation, Justin noticed Alyssa sitting nearby, went over to introduce himself, and ended up taking the seat next to her. What started as a simple introduction quickly turned into something more, and later on, Alyssa asked for his number. From that moment on, their story began—unexpected, effortless, and meant to be. They officially started dating on November 27, 2019. While their first date was technically at Dairy Queen, their first real dinner date was sushi—despite the fact that Justin did not like sushi at the time. Determined to impress Alyssa, he powered through a shrimp tempura roll while Alyssa happily finished two rolls without hesitation. Since then, they’ve loved experiencing new things and traveling together. Alyssa has introduced Justin to new foods and places, while Justin has introduced Alyssa to the world of sports and a more adventurous, go-with-the-flow side of life. Justin proposed during a trip to Italy. They spent the first week in Tuscany, where Justin was eagerly (and a little anxiously) waiting for the moment. By the time they arrived in Lake Como, Alyssa had a feeling something was coming—she wasn’t allowed to open the safe all week, her mom hinted she should wear her favorite dress, and there was a lot of talk about waking up early without much explanation. One morning, they went for a walk along the water, and Justin finally made his move. He stopped, got down on one knee, and told Alyssa how much she meant to him before asking her to marry him. It was a complete surprise—but also not at all. The rest of the day felt surreal, and the trip only got better from there. Looking back, it feels only natural that they’ve ended up here. Along the way, they’ve found not just their forever person, but also their best friend. Alyssa and Justin can't wait to start this next chapter together and build their future as Mr. and Mrs. Matthews.
