Our Favorite Places in Baltimore

Baltimore, known as "Charm City", is one of our favorite places because it is where we met! There are so many fun things to do and places to go. Baltimore gets a bad rap, but there really are charming hidden gems all throughout this culturally rich, historic city. See below for our favorite places and if you need any other recommendations, please let us know! We'd love to discuss and show you how great this city really is!

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

333 West Camden Street, Baltimore, MD 21201

We loved going to Orioles games when we attended Loyola. One of our Economics professors worked for the Orioles and gave us free tickets to attend this game our senior year (picture above!). This photo was taken outside of Pickles, the best bar for Oriole pregames. From May 31st - June 2 the Orioles have a series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Click the link for tickets!

National Aquarium

National Aquarium

501 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202

Baltimore has one of the best aquariums on the East Coast. Alyssa regrettably has never gone even though 90% of Loyola students have been there at least once-- including Josh. Please let us know if you make it to the aquarium so Alyssa can feel guilty about never attending!

R. House

R. House

301 West 29th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211

R House is an industrial-chic food hall with roll-up garage doors & 10 chef-driven counters. Highly recommend going to "Amano Taco" and building your own bowl. The best way we can describe it is gourmet Chipotle. The other best option is "Hilo" and building your own poke bowl. This is the best poke bowl we've ever had, and that includes any poke that we've eaten in NYC. This place is especially fun at night with a large bar in the center and shuffleboard!

Miss Shirley's Cafe, Roland Park

Miss Shirley's Cafe, Roland Park

513 West Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD 21210

Best brunch in Maryland! You have to try the Monkey bread and their pancakes! This place is a true staple for Loyola students, as it is within walking distance from campus.

Barcocina

Barcocina

1629 Thames Street, Baltimore, MD 21231

A very popular brunch place in the historic Fells Point neighborhood. This restaurant is located right on the harbor and is surrounded by cobblestones streets. We highly recommend!

The Charmery

The Charmery

801 West 36th Street, Baltimore, MD 21211

The BEST ice cream in Maryland. Each flavor is handcrafted locally and it is very close to Loyola's campus. A personal favorite flavor is "Maryland Mud" which is a chocolate base with oreos and chocolate chips.

Fort McHenry

Fort McHenry

Baltimore, MD 21230

For all our American history buffs, if you'd like to see a National Monument where the Americans successfully defended Baltimore Harbor from British troops in the War of 1812, please see Fort McHenry! Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the "Star Spangled Banner" as a result of the Battle of Baltimore.
