Herminio and I met in college, during dead week (week before finals and summer break). We were picking beach volleyball teams and he stepped up to introduce himself. He was a setter and I was an outside hitter, so we knew instantly that the other person knew how to play. We clicked immediately. He would cheer me on and high five me after every point. Before flying back to Puerto Rico for the summer, he told me, “your eyes are worth missing my flight” and I knew. He was a keeper and I was smitten. We lightly texted throughout summer break and when he returned in August we began dating. In September he asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history.
If you’re traveling to Puerto Rico for our wedding, here’s a fun (and super meaningful) way to make your trip even more special 🐶✨ The island has many lovable rescue dogs—affectionately called “satos”—who are given a second chance at life through amazing programs that fly them to the mainland U.S. for adoption. These “freedom flights” are often made possible by regular travelers who volunteer to be flight buddies (don’t worry—it’s easy, and the rescue handles all the logistics!). If you have a little extra time and want to do something unforgettable, you can help a pup get one step closer to their forever home—by personally bringing them to meet their new family ❤️ Learn more or sign up here: The Sato Project: https://thesatoproject.org/freedom-flights FlyDogzPR: https://www.flydogzpr.org Flight Angels: https://flightangels.org Furiend Flight: https://furiendflight.org RetrievAir: https://retrievair.com
